About
the Webmistress

This
cat can easily be recognised on the Video because of the many black spots on his
white coat. He is one of the most grown-up kittens, an admirer of Munkustrap
and probably his successor as the protector of the tribe, because he is
always very careful to all the other cats and very interested in being
useful to them, helping Munkustrap in his
duties and trying to behave the best he can.
Alonzo can be well-seen from the beginning of the show, because he is one of
the first cats to go on stage, walking fiercely and showing all his feline
pride (as he does during the beginning of the Jellicle Ball too).
In the
Video, he helps Munkustrap to fight Macavity
and he saves Demeter from being kidnapped by the
evil cat (in some Cats performances, he is supposed to be Demeter's
mate).
A curiosity: Jason Gardiner, the performer of Alonzo on the Video, was the
only actor allowed by make-up artists to put up his own make-up
without help.
